The following is a transcription of the roster of men answering the call-up of Militia in Trumbull (and present Mahoning) County, Ohio upon the collapse of General Hull's force defending Detroit. In Amateurs, to Arms!, John Elting paints a dire picture of the moment:
According to contemporary accounts, there were "few left at home except women, children, old men, cripples, and invalids."(2) - - - RETURN OF DRAFT (3) from First regiment, Third brigade, Fourth division, made 5th of September, 1812.
